Excerpt from a Work in Progress

Foreword (or, The Part No One Reads)

Mel Brooks was once asked what he believed the difference was between comedy and tragedy. He replied, “If I cut my finger, it’s a tragedy. If you fall into an open manhole, it’s a comedy.” I think that sums it up nicely. So, while I’m sitting here writing a tragedy, I hope you enjoy the comedy.
